Houston – February 10, 2012 – Artificial Lift Company (ALC) today announced the installation of the first rigless ESP string in the Middle East.
The installation for Saudi Aramco is at a depth of 6,119 ft and comprises a 134-hp ESP system with a 6,000-bbl/d pump and the proprietary ALC permanent magnet motor and wet connect system. A downhole ESP gauge, packer, and subsurface safety valve assemblies were also installed.
Saudi Aramco has provided the foundation for further installations throughout the Middle East, with several operators already showing interest in using this technology. The ALC rigless ESP technology enables clients to retrieve and reinstall an ESP string without a rig, realizing significant benefits through cost savings on rig use and electricity expenditure, decreased downtime, and reduced production deferment.
“ALC is honored to work with a company of such high caliber as Saudi Aramco and assist it in achieving a level of optimization consistent with its production goals,” stated Alan Petrie, ALC Business Development Manager, Saudi Arabia.
This successful installation follows three recent wells in Alaska, where the ALC installation team’s experience has established it as a global leader in providing rigless ESP technology.
