AccessESP System Installed on 3 Wells on Alaska North Slope

HOUSTON, Mar 2, 2018—Three AccessESP systems have been installed for a major operator in one of their Alaska North Slope fields. The installations were in high angle wells and 4.5” tubing. Following running the permanent completion, including the downhole wet connect docking systems, slickline was used to install the permanent magnet motors (PMM) and pump systems.

The Access375 wireline retrievable ESP system run in these three wells is the only one in the industry that can be deployed in 4.5” tubing using slickline. The PMMs were installed in a single slickline run, made possible by their high power density. Conventional motors would have been two to three times the length and weight, and operate with less efficiency.

“We continue to be pleased with the Access375 system as an integral part of 4.5” tubing completions. We now have 6 wells in the Alaska North Slope with high reliability both in the permanent completion technology, as well as for slickline change-out of pumps.” said David Malone, AccessESP President & CEO. “The significantly lower intervention costs enable proactive change-out of pumps with degraded performance, significantly reducing deferred production, making a real difference to our customers’ bottom lines.”
